Day 1--Paris, France Part 1
After a 10 hour plane ride, we had landed in Paris! It was raining, and cold. We got off our plane, got our luggage and were on our way to our hotel. We took a bus, and doubled checked with the bus driver what stop we should get off at. So we got off on our stop and realized as the bus pulled away that we did not know where we were. Wonderful. Lost in Paris. 8 ladies, with all having luggage. Oh and it was raining and cold.
So here we were, lost. But after the help of city maps, Ann Beal and Lynn Lonsdale we found our hotel--Hotel Foch! Right up the street from the Arc de Triomphe.
So we got settled in and decided to get on a hop on/off tour bus and see a bit of the city! We got off at the Effiel Tower and ate the best crepes of the whole trip. I got on that had nutella on it, with the most amazing creme. It was a bit messy, but totally worth it. We got back on the bus and went over to Notre Dame. We didn't fully tour it (we did that the next day), but rather just had a sneak peak at it.
From there we took a taxi to our restaurant my uncle had made reservations for us. It was called, "Pain Vin Framage," and it was the best meal I had on the whole trip. It was fondu, and we had amazing bread to dip into the most amazing melted cheese. I couldn't stop eating. We also had a plate full of a bunch of different cheese, a plate of meats and also raw meat that we cooked in boiling oil right on the table. It was a meal to die for. We were stuffed by the end. Also, the best part about this restaurant was that it was built in an old wine cellar and it had the feeling like we had our own little place. It was grand!
So after dinner, we split up into fours and each took a taxi back to our hotel. When we got into the taxi, we had a card from the hotel that had the address on it, we gave that to our taxi driver. Little did we know that the card had 2 addresses on it, for 2 hotels. We got dropped off at the wrong hotel. So here we were, 4 of us lost in Paris...again. But this time it was dark and cold! We wandered around a bit, and then ran into a Canadian who pointed us in the right direction. It took us a good 30 minutes to find our hotel, but we did in fact find it!
